Debate is a formal way of discussing or “arguing” on a particular topic, ranging from economics, political affairs, international relations, and practically anything and everything that arguments can be made on behalf of both sides. The Semiahmoo Debate Club, being one of the largest clubs in Semiahmoo introduces members to the intriguing world of debate, and provide continuous support to those wishing to advance. We coach various different formats of debate, including Canadian National Debate Format (CNDF), British Parliamentary (BP), World School Debate, and even Public Forum (PF). On top of our amazing executive team of coaches who all have a significant amount of experience in different formats and major tournaments, we host practice rounds during club meetings, organize tournaments and provide opportunities for debate at a larger platform. This 2020-2021 school, we will be turning to online meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays to follow COVID safety protocols, but the experience won’t be reduced! And finally, if you want to learn how to win arguments against your parents, never lose intellectual battles with friends, and even how to argue for anything, even if they are factually incorrect!
